Being a movie meant for a wide audience I believe this was the right way to go. Mind you it's still more lighthearted than the prequel anime series (with a few minor, fun comedic interludes), but its definitely a lot closer to the prequel tone than to the main series. ![]() They kept the flavor of the anime and added a good amount of realism with a more serious tone. As far as a live action anime-based movie, this is leaps and bounds above anything out there. The acting was very, very good throughout and the action scenes are very well choreographed with very minimal wire-cheese. This is a great movie, hands down, whether or not your a fan of the Kenshin manga/anime.
